Objectives: Determine the proportion of functional dependence in elderly patients diagnosed with Diabetes mellitus type II at the Naval Geriatric Center 2010 - 2015
Methodology: Cross-sectional study. A secondary database of the TexasCamena UTMB 2010 - 2015 database of the Aging Research Center (CIEN) of San Martin de Porres University was performed.
Results: A total of 270 participants were included, the age average was 77,5 ± 8 years old. 9 patients (3.3%) had severe dependence, 5 patients (1.9%) severe, 154 patients (57.0%) moderate, 33 patients (12.2%) low and 69 patients (25.6%) had no dependence. The age range of 83 - 100 years old was and independent associated factor for presenting functional dependence (OR=2.64 IC 95% [1,071-6,510]).
Conclusions: The 73.4% of the studied population presented a level of functional dependence, being the age range of 83 -100 years old an independent associated factor to present functional dependence.
