Efecto de una mezcla de minerales y vitaminas sobre la capacidad antioxidante y la anemia inducida en ratas

La anemia constituye un problema grave de salud pública en el Perú, afecta
principalmente a los niños menores de tres años y gestantes, el tratamiento de
elección se da mediante el uso de sales ferrosas. Sin embargo, existe baja
adherencia al tratamiento. Objetivos: Determinar el efecto de una mezcla de
minerales y vitaminas sobre la capacidad antioxidante y anemia inducida en
ratas (concentración de hemoglobina) y (cambios bioquímicos e histológicos).
Metodología: Estudio analítico, experimental clásico, longitudinal y
prospectivo. Se utilizaron 30 ratas albinas Holtzman, distribuidos
aleatoriamente en 5 grupos; Se indujo la anemia mediante extracción
sanguínea y dieta deficiente de hierro. Se brindó tratamiento durante 21 días.
Grupos: 1) Control negativo, 2) Control positivo, 3) Mezcla MV (fumarato
ferroso: 3 mg Fe/Kg p.c. + zinc, ácido fólico, vit. A y vit. C), 4) Sulfato
ferroso (3 mg Fe/Kg p.c.) y 5) Hierro hemínico (3 mg Fe/Kg p.c). Se
determinó la hemoglobina basal, post inducción y post tratamiento; se midió
la capacidad antioxidante a través de la técnica FRAP y se analizaron los
cortes histológicos de diversos órganos (hígado, estomago, duodeno, riñón,
bazo, corazón y cerebro). Resultados: Los tres tipos de hierro lograron la
recuperación de hemoglobina similar a valores basales, se halló diferencia
significativa entre el Control Positivo y Mezcla MV (p-valor = 0,001). En la
capacidad antioxidante post tratamiento se obtuvo diferencia significativa
entre los grupos tratados con sulfato ferroso y hierro hemínico (p-valor =
0,033) a favor de éste último. Se hallaron cambios histopatológicos
principalmente en hígado, duodeno y riñón en los grupos inducidos a anemia,
sobre todo en el grupo tratado con sulfato ferroso. Conclusión: Los tres
tratamientos de hierro produjeron un efecto antianémico. Los tratamientos
con hierro iónico afectaron la capacidad antioxidante en suero a diferencia del
tratado con hierro hemínico. El sulfato ferroso generó mayores alteraciones en
la morfología celular, especialmente en hígado.
